Resetting Launchpad on Mac OS X

Everybody that use Mac knew launchpad , right? Launchpad serves as a quick way to open applications on the Mac from a familiar iOS like icon grid interface , it’s just like a start menu on Windows that showing all of your installed programs on your computer

So recently , my lauchpad behaves fairly strange , the order of the app icon become disordered itself , yeah as i turns out launchpad can have little problem like this one , maybe it’s not a big deal but this can be very annoying to me or some people out there

But luckly , there is a workaround if ur launchpad acting strange like mine , or another problem like missing icon , wrong app icon , blah blah blah .. We just need to reset it to the default state , so we can easily rearrange like it was new

Here’s how to do it :

  1. Open terminal
  2. Type this command in the terminal

defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true; killall Dock

  3. Hit return , and it will re-lauch itself back to it’s default state
  4. Now you can easily rearranging them back with no pain
